New Hampshire Housing provides direct assistance to very low-income households, helping them obtain decent and affordable housing through HUD’s Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program. This program helps prevent homelessness by offering stable housing for thousands of Granite Staters.

One of the key roles of New Hampshire Housing is to stimulate and support the availability of multifamily housing throughout the state. Our Multifamily Housing Division manages the financing of new multifamily rental unit construction.

Downpayment & Closing Cost Help

Our mortgage programs provide cash assistance to help with your downpayment and closing costs.
Our mortgage programs provide and option for you to receive downpayment assistance up to $15,000.  The cash assistance can be used towards your downpayment and closing costs.
The cash assistance is secured by a second mortgage, with zero % interest and APR, no periodic payments and a 30-year term.  The cash assistance is due in full if you: 1) sell; 2) refinance; 3) file for bankruptcy;  4) no longer occupy the property as your primary residence; or 5) in 30 years.

Program income limits:

  • First – Income and Purchase Price Limits
  • Flex Plus – Incomes up to $176,200.
  • Preferred Plus – Incomes up to 80% Area Median Income (AMI), as determined by Fannie Mae.
  • Preferred Plus Over 80% AMI – Conventional financing for incomes exceeding 80% of the AMI up to $176,200.

To take advantage of this program, you must complete our homebuyer education.
