Report highlights assistance to 1,345 homebuyers, financing for more than 850 new affordable apartments, and rental assistance for more than 4,200 families
BEDFORD, N.H. – New Hampshire Housing has released its Annual Report for fiscal year 2026, highlighting its work to expand housing opportunities for people and communities across the state amid ongoing housing affordability challenges.
During the year, New Hampshire Housing helped 1,345 households purchase homes, including more than 1,000 first-time homebuyers and 67 first-generation homebuyers. The organization also financed more than 850 new affordable apartment homes and provided rental assistance to more than 4,200 households.
The report also highlights continued pressures facing New Hampshire’s housing market. The statewide median home sales price increased from $510,000 in June 2025 to $525,000 in June 2026, while the median rent for a two-bedroom apartment is about $2,000.
“Behind every number in this report is a person or family seeking something fundamental: a safe, stable place to call home. While New Hampshire’s housing challenges remain significant, these results reinforce why this work matters and why continued partnership and investment in housing are so important,” said Rob Dapice, Executive Director/CEO of New Hampshire Housing.
New Hampshire Housing’s homeownership programs saw significant growth during FY 2026. The 1,345 households assisted represented a 25% increase over the previous fiscal year. The organization also provided more than $7.5 million in self-generated down payment assistance funds, a 38.9% increase over FY 2025. Through the 1stGenHomeNH Program, 67 first-generation homebuyers received $670,000 in down payment assistance.
Beyond the numbers, the report shares stories of New Hampshire residents who achieved homeownership with support from New Hampshire Housing programs and partners. Their experiences illustrate how mortgage options, down payment assistance, homebuyer education and guidance can help prospective buyers navigate a challenging housing market.
The New Hampshire Housing Annual Report for fiscal year 2026 provides additional information about the organization’s work in homeownership, multifamily housing, assisted housing, engagement, policy and communications, as well as its Board of Directors and senior staff.
